Still tryin' to make space for the new adoptees so I had to uncork another... 2005 Betts & Scholl California Syrah... I think this wine used to go by "Red Car". This was a monster of a wine with immediate blueberry, blackberry and ripe plum on the nose with a touch of semi-dried herbs. Very rich and lush on the palate but not cloying with just a touch of heat from the 14.7% alcohol and a very, very long finish. Not sure exactly what dish would stand up to this wine... perhaps lamb tartare with Moroccan spices.... though for the time being, Terra Smoked Mozzarella and Basil Pesto chips will have to do...
