Making (eating) the most of President's Day

We made a brief stop to R. Fields in Kailua today to pick up more of the Vineyard Pantry Smokey Tomato Savory Spread and the B.T. McElrath Salty Dog Chocolate Bar. Since we were in the mood for some truffled fries from Formaggio, we stopped by after making our grocery purchases. AUWE! It was only 10:30am and Formaggio didn't open until 11:30am. What to do? I swung around to Kapalawai Cafe and they were already open so let's have an early lunch. First a glass of Aussie Pinot Noir;

And the Waialua Asparagus Risotto Cake (creamy risotto formed into a patty and fried then drizzled with Ranch).

I chose the Pastrami sandwich on rye;

While the Mrs had the Turkey Reuben.

The sandwiches were good but they mixed up the dressing... my pastrami had the Russian dressing while the Mrs' Reuben had spicy mustard...

Since my car still wasn't ready for pick-up from the Windward Servco we actually cruised back to Formaggio and ordered the Truffled French Fries;

Along with the Shrimp and Pancetta Ceasar pizza...

And can't have Formaggio grinds without wine so I sampled the 2008 Fevre Chablis and the Berger Gruner Veltliner...

Along with the 2008 Substance "Me" Merlot and the Tardieu-Laurent "Le Bec Fins" Grenache.

Guess I have to REALLY HAVE to do extra cardio during the workweek now...
