Chistopher's on Whidbey

This is another must-stop dining location whenever we visit Widbey Island mainly because the service is great and the food is very good with very reasonable prices. And the portions - HUMUNGOUS! I always forget how large the servings are until the server places them in front of me. The soups are listed as cup and bowl servings but in reality they are bowl and large bowl. The dinner salads would rival Olive Garden's never-ending-salad-portions and most selections including dinner entrees are less than $20.

On our first full day on Whidbey, we dropped in for lunch and were surprised that there seemed to be a fair crowd of locals dining there especially since it was in the middle of the workweek. I started with a cup of the Christopher's Clam Chowder with a fair amount of clams and it wasn't overly thickened with corn starch.

The Mrs selected a cup of the special Tomato Lobster Chowder - almost like the clam chowder with bright tomato flavors and chunks of lobster.

We then progressed to our House Salads with balsamic vinaigrette

Then I dove into my Penn Cove Mussels with white wine, cream and garlic - very fresh mussels (Penn Cove is right around the corner of Coupeville) with good roasted garlic flavor and not too heavy on the cream. I counted 43 mussels. Forty three mussels for $11.50... and that included the House Salad!

The Mrs had to have her pasta fix so she selected the Linguine in Marinara Sauce with Seafood - her dish was "pricey" at $13.00 and it also included the House Salad.

We actually returned for a late dinner a couple of nights later but since that was after a LARGE lunch at Prima Bistro (I had the Lamb Burger), I could only manage the Mixed Greens Salad with salmon.

While the Mrs indulged in the Warm Seafood Salad

Auntie and Uncle only managed to down soup and salad servings but they indulged in a couple of the house desserts. I unfortunately, was filled to the brim.

I also have to include this classic work of art located just outside of the Coupeville Visitor Center. It's ironic that "Peeing Dog" himself is the object of "peeing" crows and seagulls in town...
