Dinner @ the L's

We had a simple dinner at the L's along with Monsieur D and Ms L this past weekend. We tried making an early night of dinner since the Mrs worked this past weekend but once again, adjourned just south of the witching hour. The evening started with a bottle of Joseph Perrier Cuvee Royale Brut with loads of citrus curd and a hint of ginger and spice.

Along with assorted cheeses and salumi

A's Tomato Salad

Bean Dip

Olive Tapenade

And Crispy Pig Ears from the Windward Mall Farmer's Market with both a Cherry Balsamico Gastrique and Romesco Sauce for dippin'.

We then uncorked a 2003 Roederer Estate L'Ermitage Brut which had loads of fresh citrus and a touch of mineral

Then moved right into a 1992 Boillot Puligny Montrachet la Truffiere 1er Cru which was creamy with baked citrus tart flavors and a long finish

The main course started with Pasta Shells stuffed with Fennel, Radicchio and Ricotta

And a Tuscan Styled Braised Pork with Cannelini and Spinach

With a 2001 La Spinetta Vigneto Valeirano Barbaresco which had ripe red cherry, leather and tar framed by mineral and earth and a very balanced palate and long finish

Along with a 2007 Kosta Browne Amber Ridge Vineyard Russian River Pinot Noir with loads of ripe red fruit, Asian spice and a hint of vanilla with a full palate and long finish

Served with A's Grilled Chicken Kabobs

D brought several desserts

But I opted for my Costa di Bussia Barolo Chinato - basically Barolo wine mixed with herbs and a touch of sweeteners almost like Barolo with a touch of quinine.

I also didn't pass on the final bottle of a 2009 Martinelli Lolita Ranch Russian River Pinot Noir - a little more subdued than the full throttle KB Pinot but also very good.

Another great dinner and it was nice to see Monsieur D again since he's been held up since his surgery... the best anesthesia is a good bottle of vino...
