Dinner @ HASR Bistro

We did an impromptu dinner at HASR Bistro this past Saturday, in fact so last minute that they originally didn't have a table for us and we were simply slated to have dinner outside. They also informed us that if it did rain, our table would be cancelled. So we also made back-up plans for a table at Vino. Fortunately, a table opened inside the restaurant so we could cancel our Vino table and start with a bottle of 2005 Pierre Peters Le Chetillons Blanc de Blanc. Minerally and citrusy at the same time which gave way to lemon curd and freshly baked butter rolls with a medium long finish.

And a 2011 Joseph Phelps Sauvignon Blanc. I love SBs that taste the way SBs should taste with grassy, bell pepper notes and a hint of that pipi du chat.

Great with French Fries for the Mrs

And Shrimp Spring Rolls

And the Pomme Dilla which hopefully won't be removed from the menu (think fully loaded baked potato toppings on hash browns)

We also uncorked a 2004 Jonata Le Sangre Syrah that I purchased at HASR Wine Co... I love these wines marked 65% below normal retail. Loads of blueberry, dark red fruit and a hint of earth with a rich, lush palate but not heavy at all (is that an oxymoron) and a very long finish.

For the BBQ Ribs - literally fallin' offa da bone

And the Escargot with local mushrooms

We also sampled a 1995 Tinto Pesquera Ribera del Duero with dried orange peel and red fruit on the nose and a seamless palate flow and medium finish.

Along with a 2006 Poetic Justice Beckstoffer To Kalon Red

For the Braised Short Ribs on Mushroom Risotto complete with marrow bone...

The Pork Chop

And the Lamb Chops

Ending the meal with the Tiramisu

And the Banana Bread Pudding

With Keoki Coffee

And finally closing the night with a 2000 Dom Perignon

Another great meal at HASR though we'll be back in short order for the Mrs' B-Day celebration!
