Peju Winery wine tasting @ HASR Bistro

For the final "event" of our stay-cation, we secured a seating in HASR Bistro's courtyard for a Peju Winery wine tasting. The wines featured were the:

Sauvignon Blanc
"Tess" red/white blend
Merlot
Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Sauvignon
Syrah

My favorites were the Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon and all of the wines were 10% off their usual price just during the tasting. I would have purchased a bottle or two of the Cabernet Franc but alas, HASR was totally out - in fact the winery was totally out of Cabernet Franc. Oh well, my storage is full anyway.

The heavy pupu menu created by Chef Rodney looked like this:

Spiced Hamachi w/Chilled Bell Pepper Soup
Pekin Duck w/Taro Cakes
Smoked Salmon w/Potato Galette
Philly Cheese Steak Sliders
Escargot with Hamakua Mushrooms
Mongolian Lamp Chop
Kabayaki Salmon Sushi
Marinated Veg Brochettes
Assorted Cheese Platter

The appetizers were all very good though I particularly loved the Lamb Chops especially since we were treated to a full plate of them.

And the Philly Cheese Steak Sliders were great with a thicker - but still very tender - piece of beef as well as the Escargot which I always enjoy!

We also uncorked a couple of our own bottles including a 2009 Kosta Browne Russian River Vally Pinot Noir.

A 2005 Mollydooker Enchanted Path.

A 2007 Jarvis Cabernet Franc

A 2007 Saggi Sangiovese

And a 2004 Clos de L'Obac Priorat

Of course, we only were able to participate because of our stay-cation as we rarely find the time to go out on Monday evenings. But I'm already lookin' forward to our "real" vacation at the end of the year!
