For the past 2 weekends, we've been sampling the fried rice plates at I Love Country Cafe in the Windward Mall food court. I always loved their take on classic plate lunch specialties trying to make them a bit healthier... or not as bad as the classics. We first sampled the Turkey Moco which was freshly roasted turkey mixed with a bit of mashed potato (to make a pseudo roast turkey hash) on brown rice with turkey gravy and two eggs (forgot to photograph it).
We then sampled the Salmon Fried Rice with 2 sunny sides
The Lechon Kawali on garlic fried rice with chopped tomatoes and sliced onions with garlic vinegar. Okay, I know that deep fried pork... especially belly pork isn't the most conducive to healthy dining. But once in a while... Crisp lechon dipped in the vinegar to cut the richness with fresh tomatoes and raw onions on a hearty garlic fried rice. Finish the plate and take two atorvastatins in the evening.
Lastly, we sampled the Kim Chi Fried Rice with sunny sides.
We actually could split each plate for lunch as the servings are very substantial. Next up, sampling the Grilled Mochiko Chicken plate... or planning when the arteries clear enough for another lechon plate...
