Dinners with the S's

We had a couple of dinner celebrations with the S's - first for the Mrs' B-Day at The Pig and the Lady. And it is compulsory to start with cocktails for any B-Day celebration so we sampled the The Golden Pig, Kunia Road and the 10K:

Moving on to the Slow Roasted Heirloom Tomatoes and the Vietnamese Headcheese Katsu.

With a bottle of Egly Ouriet Grand Cru Brut

The our mains which consisted of the nightly special Summer Truffle and Uni Pasta

The P and L Pho

And the Charcoal Grilled Chicken

Of course the girls still needed dessert so we sampled the Caramelized Avocado Cake

And this dish which I don't even remember... obviously it has guava in it...

Maybe because D and I just had liquid dessert...

Then just last night, we celebrated K's B-Day at MW Restaurant. Our 8:30pm table was delayed by about 20 minutes so we were the last to leave the restaurant... almost like the usual exit at Vino... but the chef did comp us the Ahi Poke

And a dessert - the Hawaiian Crown Banana Cream Pie

And since it was another B-Day celebration, a round of cocktails were in order including the To Peat, the Cucumber Yuzu Fizz, a mango-cilantro-and-something-thing-a-ma-jiggy and the birthday girl's Fruit Punch cocktail which was actually frozen... she did lift the contraption to toast...

We then sampled a couple of appetizers including the Fried Calamari with shishito peppers - I love the garlic black pepper sauce that comes with the dish...

The Unagi and Butterfish Arancini - first time trying this dish, like marrying Japanese and Italian...

And the Curried Duck Salad - another first... you should consider this item as a salad course...

We then had a bottle of 2012 Joseph Phelps Freestone Vineyard Pinot Noir which was on special both by the glass and bottle for the evening... I can't pass on reduced price Sonoma Coast Pinot... then moved onto our mains which included the Mochi Crusted Opakapaka. One of my co-workers loves this dish so much he's never ordered anything else from MW...

The Short Rib and Foie Gras on truffled mash for the birthday girl...

the Seafood Gumbo for the Mrs

And the Adobo Braised Duroc Pork Shank for moi

At this point, I was quite stuffed though once again the girls sampled a couple of desserts including the aforementioned Banana Cream Pie and the Tropical Fruit Creamsicle "Brulee".

While D and i simply savored a Negroni... I think the bar staff had to look it up since the barkeep and bar manager seemed to be looking it up online...

And since I was compulsively photographing every dish, K wanted me to photograph her usual after dinner beverage - hot water with a lemon wedge. As long as I've known her, she never has coffee, tea or an after dinner libation. It's just hot water and lemon...

Though we were seated late, the staff and chef were very accommodating... even if we left after some of their employees and the food is good, so we'll be back...
