2nd to the last dinner @ Vino

Yes, it's windin' down to the last days of Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas and Vino Italian Tapas and Wine Bar. Since we're on vacay, we paid a visit on Thursday with both I's... of course the K's also show up along with Ms K.
We start with a bottle of J's 2007 Domaine Chignard Fleurie

While V uncorks a bottle of 1995 Rocca Albino Vigneto Brich Ronchi Barbaresco

We convinced the I's to sample the special Amoose Bouche with moose that Chef John Iha's uncle shipped to him.

I then uncorked an "orange" wine, a 2000 Radikon Oslavje. I love these "orange" wines as the extended contact with the skins gives it a complexity usually only seen with aged white Burgundies or Rhones...

G also sampled the Coq au Vin Potstickers (and did ask for a bowl of rice to sop up the sauce)...

We sampled the Raviolo con Uovo

The Duo of Contemporary Sushi

The Trofie Pasta

The Vintage Steak

And the Braised Short Rib with Pappardelle... I know it seems like a lot of food but this all disappears in another week...

Since the K's joined us, I also uncorked a 1997 Livio Sassetti Pertimali Brunello di Montalcino

Then Ms K showed up and ordered her usual "Karen's Pasta" which Vino makes for anyone who knows about the dish though it's not on the menu - it's basically an Alfredo with mushrooms...

She uncorked a 1997 Domaine de la Chanteleuserie Bourgueil Cabernet Franc which had loads of green and black pepper

And as usual, the gang finished the evening with several rounds of Champagne...

I'm not sure we'll ever be able to find another Vino or Hiroshi. Perfect location just across the Koolaus, loads of free parking, great food, the nicest staff you'll find anywhere... Supposedly the DK group is looking for new digs and hope to reopen in 4 months but I'm not holdin' my breathe since a Sansei will open in WA state with an anticipated timeline before the holiday season in November. In any case, it'll be a long summer...
