To very little fanfare, Vino reopened this past Thursday evening in their new space at Waterfront Plaza just a stones throw from the original location. Of course it was a full house with most of the regulars securing a table with a full staff including Ivy Nagayama from Sansei and DK Steakhouse along with DK himself greeting diners.
We started with a couple of bottles of bubbly, a Diebolt-Vallois...
And a Delamotte Brut...
Because of their "soft" reopening, Chuck wanted the kitchen staff to "ease" back into the swing of things so the menu was basically the old menu with one bolognese pasta added. We started with the salumi and cheese platter...
Followed by two different pizzas...
Along with C's 2010 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino..
Since the pizza ovens are brand-spankin' new, they still are "testing" the pizzas... I personally like that char on the crust...
I uncorked a 1996 Domenico Clerico Ciabot Mentin Ginestra Barolo... loads of old leather, tobacco wrapper and hints of licorice and a seamless palate flow and long finish. Barolo rocks! Aged Barolo absolutely rocks! If you have this in your cellar, this could easily go another 5 to 10 years before paeking!
Along with a 1989 Chateau Gruaud Larose with stone, dried herb and hints of currant with a medium mouthfeel and long finish...
We than sampled our mains including the Bolognese...
The Vintage Steak...
The Branzino....
Karen's Pasta...
Shrimp Pasta
And of course, more vino including an 1999 Il Carbonaione...
A 2014 Domaine Depeuble Beaujolais Rose...
And a 2000 La Jota Howell Mountain Cabernet Franc...
Though I was gettin' a little stuffed, we also sampled some of Vino's usual desserts...
Though since it was the anticipated re-opening, I had to ask mixologist Brent to shake me the perfect Negroni...
So the wait is now over and as an added bonus, Vino will now be open 6 days a week (only closed on Mondays). They eventually will start offering nightly specials once the kitchen staff gets used to all of the brand new kitchen equipment.
But the universe has now been righted...
