For the past several months, Vino has been hosting a pau hana pupu event on their outside property or "patio" featuring small tapas style plates along with reduced priced wines by the glass that 's meant for downtown workers who would rather spent an hour so sampling food and wine instead of making that immediate trek home on Fridays. We've never considered these "Patio" events as the Mrs could never get off work on time on a Friday and by the time we drove back in to town, the event would be done...
But this was our last weekday on staycation so we decided to partake in the pau hana event. For starters, it starts at 4:30pm and though it was meant for immediate after work knoshing, there only seemed to be 2 or 3 participants who came directly after work.
I did feel sorry for Chef Keith and Chef Jenn as the afternoon sun was directly in their faces for at least the first 15 minutes...
After ordering a glass of Flor Prosecco Rose and Hybrid Chardonnay...
We sampled the Anchovy Bruschetta with pickled re peppers... tangy with loads of umami...
The Eggplant with pickled onions and feta cheese... a little difficult to share...
The Tortilla de Patatas with spinach and white truffle oil... always a fave of mine...
The Flash Fried Shishito Peppers with balsamic reduction... two of eleven were very spicy...
The Garlic Shrimp with mancego and Romesco sauce... perfectly cooked shrimp with tangy Romesco sauce...
And the Pork Fennel Meatballs with Marzano tomatoes... this just needed a little pasta...
I'm glad we chose to sample the Patio event though after several cocktails at Nordstrom and tapas at Vino, I was ready to be rolled back to the car...
