Midsummer Natto Soiree @ 3660 on the Rise


Once again, we decided to attend the annual Natto Day dinner arranged by the trio of Scott Pang, Greg Sekiya and Mari Taketa though this year's festivities was held in the banquet room of 3660 on the Rise with a little over 100 attendees (including Governor Ariyoshi).


We first selected a couple of cocktails to start the evening...




Then sampled the three appetizers for the evening...


Pork Natto Quesadilla with Natto Guacamole...


Natto and fried Tofu...


And Natto Salsa with Shrimp chips...


Along with a bottle of 1993 Dom Ruinart Champagne...


Bunraku Daiginjo sake 40% seimaibuai)...


And Masumi "Nanago" Yamahai Daiginjo...


Then moved on to the Salmon Tartar scented with Natto...



The Daikon Strings and Onion Salad with Natto and Ponzu...


The Golden Fried Panko Crusted Shrimp with Natto Shiso Aioli...


And the 3660 Bi Bim Bap with Yakisoba, Kalbi and Natto...


We also sampled a bottle of 2015 Arnot-Roberts Rose...


Before dessert arrived, a Green Tea Panna Cotta with honey'd Natto...


I also treated our table to my Chocolate Natto Rice Pudding with Natto Miso Caramel...



Then the new Natto King and Queen were crowned...

As usual, the Natto Trio did a great job with this year's dinner though sadly, Mari Taketa hasn't attended the last two Natto dinners due to a food allergy/intolerance... But we'll be back again next year!
