13th Annual CASAA Wine Dinner @ 3660 on the Rise

Because Ms C is a board member of the UH College of Arts and Sciences Alumni Association, we were encouraged to attend the 13th annual wine dinner fundraiser. This year it was held at 3660 on the Rise's private banquet rooms. As part of the fundraiser, both a silent and live auction are held before and after dinner.

Of course, since the incorrigible trio of the K's, I's and T's were in attendance, we also carted our own bottles of vino including V's remarkable 1959 Licht-Bergweiler Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Auslese... yes, 1959!

I thought my 2006 Villard De Poncins Condrieu would pair nicely with the first course of Seafood Ravioli with Shimeji mushrooms and yuzu butter sauce but alas, despite a fragrant nose had virtually no mid palate... oh well!?...

Since both C and G have shellfish allergies, they were served a shaved sweet onion salad with tomatoes...

I thought that these place holders that N created were pretty cool...

The Pan Seared Scallop with edamame relish and yuzu-onion puree...

...paired nicely with this Kistler McCrea Vineyard Chardonnay...

The Soy Sake Glazed Butterfish with white truffle dashi nage was great on its own...

Though the Syrah and Grenache/Syrah blend probably wasn't the best pairing... of course my 2000 Lesec Charmes Chambertin also had a little too much funk for the butterfish but was good with the...

...Roasted Szechuan Crusted Tenderloin of Beef with shiitake and asparagus saute...

The meal ended with Profiterole with Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Sauce...

I even secured the winning bid for a 1er Cru Burgundy, a Kistler Chardonnay and cocktail class for 10 in Waikiki...

Our table minus the K's (on the far side of the table)... E even offered a dinner for 6 at the K abode during the live auction using local proteins and wine pairings from E's own cellar... The winning bid for E's dinner was actually $3000... that's even more than Alan Wong's table for six during the Good Table events...
