Dinner @ Eating House 1849

I had a $50 reward certificate from OpenTable last year and unlike previous years, they didn't actually issue a $50 "check" that you could use at any OpenTable participating restaurant. In fact 2 years ago I had a $50 credit and was allowed to use the whole credit at Moku Kitchen. However, the current system only allows you to use it at certain restaurants and you have to book your credit through OpenTable so you can't just walk in (like we did with Moku Kitchen) and while I would have used the credit at Moku Kitchen again, they only accepted $25 credits. In fact there were only four restaurants that accepted $50 credits... one of them being Eating House 1849.

Eating House 1849 harkens back to the day of one of the original restaurants in the 50th in the mid 1800s which used what was fresh and local. It's celebrity Chef Roy Yamaguchi's interpretation of foods from the plantation days of yesteryear.

Because we arrived a little early, we ordered a couple of cocktails from their Happy Hour list, the Beaumont Punch for the Mrs with Bacardi, velvet falernum, peach liqueur, pineapple and lime...

While I sampled the Sakura with Toki whisky, yuzu, ginger, honey syrup and hibiscus tea...

We then moved on to the Brussels and Cauliflower covered in a mish-mash of accoutrements...

And the Manila Clams and Mushrooms...

Along with this salad but I totally forgot what salad this was...

I also ordered a bottle of 2014 Three Sticks The James Sta Rita Hills Pinot Noir...

For the Mrs' Braised Lamb Shank...

And my Surf and Turk which included the Braised Short Rib with poi and lomi and the Ora King Salmon "Dynamite"...

The Mrs still had room for dessert (we actually boxed quite a bit to take home) and tried the Roy's Signature Dark Chocolate Souffle…

While I just had another libation, the Slightly Jaded with Botanist gin, Green chartreuse, lime, basil and shiso syrup...

Would we return? Maybe... it is in Waikiki after all and we usually avoid Waikiki like the plague... unless the Blue Note has a top act playin'... but maybe...
