Cocktails & Lunch @ Habitant

Several weeks ago, we decided to get some adult beverages and grub at Habitant on the 2nd floor of Nordstrom. Whomever designed the layout was a genius - a glass wall backing the bar with liquor bottles facing both the bar patrons and those on the escalator. That display just lures you in! In fact, the reason I was here was because Ms S needed to return some purchases at Nordstrom. I normally hate going to Ala Moana because it can get so crowded but if Habitant is also on the itinerary, then I'M THERE!
Ms S first selected the Basil Cucumber Cooler ($15) with Aviation gin (Ryan Reynolds gin), cucumber, basil, lime and soda - it's the perfect refresher!
While I started with the Polka Dot Bikini ($15) with vodka, Pampelmousse (grapefruit liqueur), lemon and Prosecco - almost like a French 75 and just as refreshing...
We then started with a plate of the Brussels Sprouts Frites ($10) - I always like fried sprouts as it intensifies the flavor as well as mutes the sulpurous odors of any crucifer...
As usual, we also ordered a plate of regular Frites - just right thickness and perfectly cooked - I hate when fries are overcooked resulting in dark brown colors or limpy texture...
Ms then sampled the special Fresh Berry Salad ($16.75) with mixed greens topped with fresh berries, goat cheese, candied almonds, dried strawberries and a vanilla bean vinaigrette... she totally loved this salad...
I first selected another libation, the High Fashion ($17.00) with Woodford Reserve bourbon, 12yr old Macallan, mission fig syrup and aromatic bitters... yes, I know it sounds like a sacrilege to use these liquors in a cocktail... but it was very tasty indeed!
I then moved on to the Jumbo Lump Crab Dip ($19.00) with lump crab mixed with bell pepper and four cheeses - sharp cheddar, Monterey jack, parmesan and cream cheese...
Of course, there was a special dessert cocktail that Ms S just HAD to sample, the Cold Brew Martini with vodka, Nordstrom cold brew coffee, Bailey's and Kahlua... she also loved this libation! The only negative to Habitant is that they list the calorie count for each cocktail... I know that libations are essentially empty, dense calories with just a tad less caloric count than fat (alcohol = 7cal/gm vs fat = 9cal/gm, protein/carbs are 4cal/gm) so I don't need to actually see all of the empty calories I'm imbibing... It's like placing a photo of a clogged coronary artery next to the description of the bacon double cheesebirger... But we'll continue to visit Habitant as long as Ms S has merchandise to return...
