A Hui Hou, Mon Ami...

Just a short tribute to my brother-from-another-mother, Edmund Kellett who crossed the bridge yesterday morning. Before we formally met, I simply knew him as "HASR Man" as he would often be seated across the bar at the HASR Wine Co's weekly wine tastings. Then one day, unexpectedly while I was shopping at R. Fields in Kailua, he turned the corner to state "that's a Brent Black ain't it? Just had to let you know..." As it turned out, he also had a love for Brent Black Panama hats. We finally fornally met back in June 11, 2010 at a wine dinner for Gavin Chanin of Chanin Wine Co at Michel's restaurant. I immediately bonded with Edmund as a man of principle because though the GM, Philip Shaw allowed us to bring our own wines, Edmund immediately ordered Champagne for the table. Philip Shaw asked Edmund why he ordered Champagne as we already had a lot of wine... Edmund stated that it was only right to order several bottles since Philip allowed us the luxury of bringing our own wines... From that point on, I knew I had a friend for life.
Since then, we've shared many tables together and bottles of Champagne and wine...
We even hosted a Pop-Up Dinner at the old EAT Honolulu at Na Lama Kukui...
So Brother, I will miss you but I will always cherish memories of you and the good times we spent together. A Hui Hou...
