Dinner @ Tanuki Sushi

Whenever we visit Tanuki Sushi, we now order the omakase or chef's selection which basically is an order of every special sushi listed on the specials board (usually 15 selections) plus ankimo, tamago and miso soup. And of course, we always bring sake and/or wine. I brought a bottle of Heavensake, a junmai daiginjo from Tatenokawa but blended by Regis Camus, the cellarmaster of Rare Champagne...
We started with the edamame...
Followed by the ankimo - Chef Shawn prepares the BEST ankimo with the perfect balance of citrus...
Then the first plate of five including madai, yukimasu, akami, kampachi and engawa...
Followed by the second with Mt Fuji white salmon, mahata, chuutoro, shimaaji and kinki...
I also uncorked (actually unscrewed since it had a Stelvin closure) a 2021 Tank Garage Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard Trousseau Gris...
For the third plate with hirame, kinmedai, King salmon, Hokkaido uni, otoro and tamago...
We finished with miso soup...
And Ms S' final plate of her faves...
Tanuki Sushi is our favorite sushi restaurant as it's located right in K-Town, is BYOB and with quality like other Honolulu or Waikiki sushi restaurants but with lower prices...
