Dinner @ Threadfin Bistro

Late last month, we had a Tuesday dinner at Threadfin Bistro - the Bistro usually isn't open on Tuesdays but they intended on hosting one of the Zacharia siblings of Zachys Wine & Liquor in New York. However, there was a last minute change of plans when the Zacharia's couldn't make the trip so Threadfin Bistro simply turned the dinner into a BYOB event. This was the menu for the evening:
I first uncorked a bottle of Krug Rose... life is short, drink the good wines now... I likely purchased this bottle sometime in 2011 or 2012 so this bottling had a high percentage of wines from the 2000 vintage...
It had a full body that made it stand up to a variety of dishes...
The meal started with the Kona Abalone, Escargot Style...
V uncorked a bottle of 2007 Cherisey Meursault-Blagny...
The 2nd course was Local Field Greens with Balsamic Poached Figs and Walnut Relish...
Other diners started sharing their wines...
The 3rd course was Sauteed Crab Noodles with a Miso Brown Butter Sauce...
For the Crab Noodles, I uncorked a 1998 Brundlmayer Gruner Veltliner Trockenbeerenauslese... the caramel like richness of the wine paired nicely with the sweet crab and slight heat in the noodles...
The main course was your choice or Hokkaido Scallops with Wild Mushrooms and Corn Relish (which I selected)...
Or the Burgundy Braised Short Ribs with Mascarpone Polenta (which Ms S selected)...
Dessert was a Creme Brulee with Fresh Fruit...
Because Threadfin Bistro now has their liquor license, the BYOB dinners are limited to special dinners on Sundays. But as long as we're allowed to BYOB, we'll return for meals...
