We made our first trip to Mille Fete, the collaboration between James Beard winning chef, Robynne Mai'i and baker Katherine Yang who has almost 3 decades in the business working with some of the biggest names in the industry including Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller. It's located on the same block as Fete, just on the other end of the block.
We walked in to place our order but almost everything can be ordered online so all you have to do is pick-up the order. There are two eating areas as they also offers assorted beverages though we just ordered baked items.
There are three display cases...
Ms S selected a slice of each cake including the P.O.G. Cake which had the classic flavors of Passion fruit, Orange and Guava but elevated with passion fruit gelee, mandarin orange supremes and guava diplomat creme... probably the BEST rendition of POG I've ever sampled...
And the Coconut Cake with coconut diplomat creme and Swiss meringue... I would dare to say better than Halekulani's coconut cake...
She also selected a "bao", a baked bun filled with Japanese Potato Salad which tasted like the usual Japanese Potato Salad minus the cucumbers but also with a bit of spicy heat...
And the handpie, the Kimchi Reuben with a flaky pastry enclosing corned beef, kimchi bechamel and mozzarella - this also had a bit of heat from the kimchi...
We also sampled the Ludovico Curry Chicken sandwich using their own baked bread...
Ms S also selected assorted cookies and sweets...
Chocolate PB Whistles
Lili Bells
Roasted Pineapple Coffee Cake (one of Ms S' faves)
Black and Lilikoi
We didn't order every item... only because we had lunch reservations at Fete right after our purchase... but that Lard Bread made with Mountain View Farms pork fat for the Father's Day weekend looks pretty good...
