Dinner @ Prime Roast Cafe

We celibrated 3 birthdays last night at Prime Roast Cafe in downtown Honolulu. Prime Roast Cafe was opened in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 by the former Executive Chef of Y. Hata, Ernesto Limcaco and is manned by his spouse, occasionally his sons and food interns. They specialize in Sterling Silver branded Prime Rib but also serve fish and poultry and primarily caters to the downtown clientele for breakfast and lunch. However, you can also schedule a dinner if there are enough diners (we had 12). We had everything served family style and the restaurant is BYOB which is a big plus (you also have to bring your own glasses). Since there were 12 of us I carted a magnum of 2001 Chateau Gruaud Larose... if you have a bottle, it will easily last another decade as it didn't open up until dinner was done (I didn't bring a decanter since we Uber'd)...
We started with the Charcuterie plate with several cheeses, fennel salami and guava smoked pork belly...
Then moved on to the Caesar's Salad...
Then the Prime Rib... it was served with roasted ube, a mixed mashed potato and a Indian style ratatouille...
Next up was the Duck Confit with a mango-lilikoi ginger gastrique with saffron rice...
Then the Salmon with miso-caper cream sauce with also with saffron rice...
Ending with a quadruple Mushroom Risotto...
We then had to finish the meal with French Apple Tarte Tatin... I heard that Chef slows cooks the apple over several days so it's almost like an apple cream...
These are only about half of the bottles we uncorked...
Already thinking about planning another wine dinner here...
