Dinner at Le Guignol

We had a simple dinner at Le Guignol last night. Simple, yeah right! I know you're thinking that there were probably enough wines to start a wine shop. Pretty close... though we didn't finish every bottle. The leftovers were left with Chef Ala... Le Guignol will probably have Coq Au Vin on the menu this coming week. Along with Cabernet braised short ribs. We started the evening with some bubbly, a bottle of aged J. Lassalle Brut

We then ordered several appetizers including the Escargot:

The Tomato, Walnut & Blue Cheese Salad

The Salad Lyonnaise with Pig Ears

And the Sweetbreads in Vegetable Cream

Both the 2009 Savary Chablis and the 2010 Calera Viognier paired nicely with the appetizers

The bottles then started uncorking at a furious rate for the rest of the meal. I chose the special of the evening, Pork Belly Confit with white beans and grapes (which was excellent with the 2005 Patz & Hall Chenowith Ranch Pinot Noir).

While the Mrs chose the Filet Mignon with Sauce Bordelaise (if you squint, the picture might come into focus)

K & C both selected the Rack of Lamb

While M had the Balsamico Braised Short Ribs on creamed barley

Here's the short version of wines enjoyed last night...

And no, we actually didn't open enough wines to start a wine shop. It takes more than 19 bottles to start a wine shop...
