Pot Luck Dinner



We had another pot luck dinner this past weekend and though I tried NOT to overdo it, we still had 5 dishes in tow (and 4 wines). We started the evening with a Camile Saves Grand Cru Rose from Bouzy with loads of apple and a long finish:


And a 2008 Markus Molitor Urziger Wurzgarten Spatlese


We noshed on mixed cheeses


Mixed salumi


Pate


And smoked salmon with eggs on toast


We then uncorked a 2003 Guigal Brune et Blonde Cote Rotie


And a 2000 Pride Mountain Vineyards Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon


For the rack of lamb


Served with roasted baby potatoes


And we also uncorked a 2000 Quintarelli Ca del Merlo which was concentrated and rich on the palate with a long finish


And a 2007 Achaval Ferrer Finca Mirador Malbec


For the pastitsio


And since man (and woman) don't live by meat and starch alone, I made my smoked almonds and pea salad


And zucchini carpaccio


We ended the evening with tiramisu and a limoncello ice cream

With a 2005 Baumard Coteaux du Layon Chenin Blanc


Another great meal with good friends and good food & wine. Already looking forward to the next one...
