Oyster Night @ Vino

Last weekend, Vino hosted another Oyster Night with 3 oyster specials. This round they featured Dabob Bays from the Puget Sound either on the half shell with peas, hijiki, calamansi and Maui onion or baked with spinach, pancetta and chili pepper water aioli:

Or Komo Gways from British Columbia panko coated and deep fried with lemon basil aioli and diced tomatoes:

Once again, I tried to order a bottle of Pieropan Soave but Chuck stated that he was out of that bottle. We let him select so he brought out a bottle of CF Muller Thurgau. His Muller Thurgau made by Furst is always great with food with pineapple and white flowers on the nose and refreshing acidity to cleanse the palate.

We then had him select another bottle - a 2011 Reuilly which was like a Chablis made with Sauvignon Blanc.

We also sampled the Duo of Sushi

Along with the Foie Gras sushi (in support of our California brethren who no longer can sample foie gras due to the ban which started on 7/1/12)

Calamari with Balsamic Pepperoncini Aioli

And a the Cheese and Salumi Platter

I also uncorked a 2002 Matrot Mersault-Charme 1er Cru which had earth, stone, stone fruit and citrus curd on the nose and seamless flow on the palate.

The gals sampled the Mary's Organic Roasted Chicken (now on the regular menu)

And Karen's Pasta (a special not on the menu but served if you know the secret handshake)

We finished the evening with Pierre Morlet 1er Cru Champagne

And 2002 Paul Bara Special Club Grand Cru Champagne

Another great night with great food and wines and friends. A voitre sante!
