After a day of studying, we had dinner at Le Guignol to once again sample some of Chef Ala's delicacies. We started the evening with some bubbly from Gerard Loriot, grower-producer Champagne. It had a rich mouthfeel with brioche and citrus curd and a medium long finish.
The Mrs selected the Asparagus with Crab and Egg
While I HAD to select the Foie Gras Creme Brulee... OMG! All the flavor of foie gras with a custard consistency and caramelized sugar for a textural contrast and sweetness. And the lilikoi vinaigrette on the salad balanced the whole dish.
We uncorked a 2009 Bichot Grand Cru Chablis Moutonne Domaine Long-Depaquit which was perfect with the asparagus and crab!
I then uncorked a 1995 Francois Jobard La Piece Sous le Bois Blagny
Which was followed by a 2005 Chateau Corton Grancey Grand Cru
We paired these Burgs with the Half Rack of Lamb
The Pork Tenderloin
The Filte Mignon with Bleu Cheese
And the Salmon on Quinoa
This was followed by a 1994 Chateau Corbin Michotte St Emilion
And a group of late seated diners shared their 2007 Juris-Prudence with us which was dessert in itself with massive ripe red fruit but a luscious balanced flow...
And even better than the Chocolate Cake...
Chef Ala ALWAYS nails it! So we'll be back...
