We pretty much decided to support The Culinary Arts Program of the Kapiolani Community College at the last possible moment via Restaurant Week by dining at Le Bistro (participating restaurant donate a portion of their sales for the week to KCC's Culinary Arts Program). As such, it was a late (by our standards) dinner on Thursday night so we started with some bubbly, a Philipponnat Rose then moved right to a Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle Domaine du Duc de Magenta for the seafood selections.
I chose the Fricasse of Shellfish with Penn Cove mussels and manila clams in a tomato based broth
While the Mrs selected the Salade of Caramelized Tangerine with Stilton Cheese and candied walnuts
Others sampled the Pacific Northwest Oysters on the Half-shell
And the French Onion Soupe Gratinee
The Mrs also split a Foie Gras
I then uncorked a 1976 Gelin and Molin Fixin Clos du Chapitre Domaine Marion
Which I sampled with my Caramelized Bone-In Kurobuta Pork Chop (forgot to get a photo) while the Mrs selected the special Red Wine and Peppercorn Short Rib with a Wagyu Slider.
Others sampled the Twice Cooked Breast of Muscovy Duck
And the Pan Roasted Sea Bass with mushrooms and truffle essence
For the latter dishes, a bottle of 1999 Francois Jobard Mersault-Charmes was uncorked
The evening ended with an Apple Tarte
Mixed Berry Tarte
And soft Chocolate Cake
While I had a Keoki Coffee sans cream
Another great meal at Le Bistro that also benefited the Culinary Program at KCC. A win all the way around if you ask me...
