Very early dinner @ Joey Southcenter

Since we still had about 4 hours to kill before heading to SEA for the flight home, the Mrs asked the concierge at The Mayflower Park Hotel if there were any malls near SEA. Affirmative! The Southcenter Mall (aka the Westfield Mall) was adjacent to airport and very close to the rental car return lot. She even gave us detailed directions how to get there and how to get to the rental car lot. KUDOS to the Mayflower Park Hotel concierge!
So we walked around the mall... it's a HUGE mall! And I was surprised that the food court also had a Jollibee. I guess Seattle has a large Filipino community though I never would have guessed it. After purchasing some last minute omiyage, we decided to have an early dinner at the mall. I also tried purchasing lottery tickets from an automated kiosk but to confirm your age (must be at least 18 years old), you have to scan your drivers license. As fate would have, the kiosk was unable to scan my Hawaii drivers license... and I thought I had a date with the 110 million dollar prize... guess not. Anyway, along with the large food court, Southcenter Mall also has several "real" restaurants located at one side of the mall. The Mrs chose Joey Southcenter which was eclectic to say the least. Their staff seemed to primarily be young Asian women dressed like Robert Palmer's backup band in his Addicted to Love video. The background music was on the louder side and gave the restaurant a club-like vibe though the multiple flatscreens above the 2 large bars were all tuned to sports channels. I guess they try to cater to everyone.

I started with a Pyramid seasonal stout

While the Mrs sampled the Pomegranate Mojito

We then took the server's suggestion and tried the Pan Fried Gyoza - I didn't expect a whole lot but they were juicy and very good.

The Mrs then ordered the Chicken Souvlaki sandwich with tzatziki sauce

While I tried the Ahi Tuna Club sandwich. The red pepper relish was spiced with five spice powder and the ahi was cooked medium rare. Both sandwiches came with fries. Which was the Mrs' only complaint about Seattle. Every restaurant that offered french fries served thin cut fries. Prima Bistro, Sazerac, Spur Gastropub, Joey Southcenter. Don't get me wrong, all of their fries were very good and properly cooked. But sometimes you want thicker fries like finger width thickness. Not just McDonald's thin fries.

Anyway, this meal concluded a week long jaunt through the Northwest. Good times with family, great meals and wines and sub 50 degree temperatures which was lacking on our mainland trip last year (it was actually in the 70-80s in the Bay Area last year). Now to start planning next year's vacation...
