End of the World Party

Okay, this is the only photo of food from out recent End of the World Party held on 12/21/12... you know, the end of the Mayan Calendar. Actually all 12/21/12 signaled was the end of the 13th Bahktun and ushered in the 14th Bahktun. But just in case... we had a no-holds party to potentially savor your favorite foods and drinks one last time. Just that I neglected to photograph almost every dish and a load of wines. The only surviving food photo is my 2 poached eggs on Kin Wah's Boneless Minute Chicken with Cake Noodle along with 2 springs rolls. I can recall the dishes we carted, some Boccalone Iberico Bellota Lardo served on Harry & David's Royal Riviera pear slices with smoked sea salt, pasta shells filled with ricotta, fennel and radicchio, Boccalone's sopressata, nduja (spicy spreadable salami) and ciasciulo (soft salami), Brie baked with assorted mushrooms, red wine and thyme and cilantro bao filled with slow braised shoyu pork belly. I also do recall beef stew, chicken cacciatore, Spam musubi, fried chicken, sliced steak but the memory gets a little foggy after that. So in lieu of food photos, here are some of the wines we sampled:

This baby was just disgorged last year so it sat on the lees for 32 years...

From a magnum, the best way to savor Champagne if the world is ending...

One of my deathbed wines... unfortunately, every bottle uncorked is one less in the world as 2006 was Noel Verset's absolute last vintage.

I know that a 2000 Dom Perignon was uncorked along with an Egly Ouriet and some J. Lassalle, but there were other bottles not photographed but at least the world is still intact.
