The Ultimate BYOB @ Vino

We recently attended Vino's "Ultimate BYOB" in November. Ok, so I emphasized the Ultimate part... mainly because it's been so successful, Chuck wants to hold an Ultimate BYOB every month (the next one held on December 29th). But since most of our regular wine gang decided to attend, we made it a family affair. Since most of us were present (sans the I's and CL), the Mrs splurged with a bottle of the Jacques Selosse V.O. Extra Brut Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru... Okay, if I just signed a 7-figure contract with some sports team or had all 6 numbers for the Powerball, this would be my everyday Champagne! Stone fruit, citrus curd, mineral, evolving flavor nuances... ALL THERE! Absolutely DELICIOUS!

We then progressed to the BYOB uncorking a 2002 Zind Humbrecht Clos Hauserer Riesling for the Fresh Island Fish Crudo (ahi) with ogo, pickled watermelon radish and extra virgin olive oil.

We then uncorked a 1995 Domaine du Viking Gauthier Lhomme Cuvee Aurelie Vouvray

A  2007 Le Haut-Lieu Sec Vouvray

And a sparkling Champalou Brut Vouvray for a study in Vouray

For the Lobster and home-made Ricotta Agnolotti

All three renditions worked though older and sparkling Vouvray held the edge. And we couldn't resist trying the study in Vouvray with some Foie Gras Sushi.

We then uncorked a 2004 Paul Hobbs Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir

A 2000 La Spinetta Vigneto Campe Barolo

A 2009 Vieux Telegraphe La Crau Chateauneuf du Pape

And a 2009 Chateau Les Fenals Fitou brought directly from France

With the Braised Duck Cavatelli with red wine sauce

The meal ended with Strawberry Tiramisu

Another great meal with good friends! Of course the evening wasn't over since The Pig and the Lady had their Noodle Bar event at Taste Table so... of course... we had to mosey on over for the chicken pho...

Amazing! They also provided some banh mi but we were stuffed so the banh mi made a great breakfast the next morning... A voitre sante!
