We recently had another great Sunday Brunch at Michel's at the Colony Surf. They originally planned on only opening for Mother's Day Sunday but decided to also keep the 1st Sunday opening. Good thing since Nate inadvertently had our reservation for the 1st Sunday in June and securing a last minute table is near impossible but the Sunday before Mother's Day was relatively quiet for Michel's. The I's uncorked a Philipponnat and J. LaSalle Rose in quick succession to start brunch.
We then sampled the Oysters on the Half Shell
Along with the Big Island Goat Cheese Salad
And the Brazilian Acai Yogurt
I then uncorked a 1995 Drappier Milliseme Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru which was midway between rich citrus curd brioche goodness and refreshing fresh citrus. A very happy place for a Champagne!
The I's also uncorked an Anthill Farms Pinot Noir while E uncorked a 2000 Dom Perignon.
Of course, I had to sample the house BLT Bloody Mary between Champagnes
While the Mrs opted for the complimentary Blood Orange Mimosa
We then moved on to the Haupia French Toast with Macadamia Nuts
The Greens, Eggs and Ham Benedict
The Paniolo Style Ribeye Steak
And the Salmon St Jacques
Sampled with a Paul Bara Grand Cru Rose along with a Pierre Peters Blanc de Blanc
Finally ending with the Chocolate Decadence Cake
And the Peach Coupe Melba
And of course, we closed Michel's (the valet brought our car keys to us before he left) but it was a very relaxing Sunday with good food, wines and great friends!
