Since Saturday marked the start of our staycation of 2013, we started it off with a simple dinner with friends. Since E worked, I decided to do the cooking and since we had several older Bordeaux we wanted to uncork, it was a meat centric menu. We started with some bubbly, a Michel Arnould Grand Cru Rose produced exclusively from Pinot Noir.
With mixed Charcuterie
And some Loco Nachos
With Roasted Bone Marrow with Persilade
And more bubbly, a 2002 La Vigne de Gamins Cuvee de 3146
The main was a Roasted Boneless Leg of Lamb
And Pan Fried Pork Tenderloin
With Mushroom Bread Pudding
Grilled Asparagus
Roasted Yellow Potatoes, Baby Carrots and Fennel
With a 1978 Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot St Emilion with green tobacco, dried herbs and dried red fruit on the nose and a seamless palate flow.
And a 1983 Chateau Montrose St Estephe with Maduro like tobacco on the nose followed by fleshy dried fruit. The nose changed over the evening with the tobacco muting and the herb and fruit notes coming to the forefront.
And a 2007 Martinelli Zio Tony Ranch Pinot Noir
A 2011 Ramey Claret
And a 2005 Duckhorn Three Palms Vineyard Merlot
Ending dinner with a Apple Spice Cake
And a Chocolate Cake
With a Pineau des Charentes
Ending with a 2000 Paul Bara Comtesse Marie de France. Once again, another good meal with good wines and great friends. A good way to start our staycation even if we did cancel our Bay Area trip this year.
