It's been a while since we last had dinner at HASR Bistro and since the Mrs was off on Sunday (but worked on Saturday), she decided to have dinner after Ms K called inquiring what we were doin' for dinner. They were quite busy hosting a wedding reception in their courtyard - the father of the groom started purchasing Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon ever since his son Jordan was born so he uncorked every vintage since 1995 (through 2009). I guess that would mean Jordan got married quite young... Anyway we started with a couple of cocktails, the Lychee Martini ($8).
And the Yuzu Martini ($8) which tasted a lot like the Yamayuzu sake.
I then uncorked a bottle of Laurent Perrier Rose (Ms K wisely peeled off the J.J. Buckley tag since you're only supposed to BYO bottles purchased at HASR Wine Co).
We sampled a plate of French Fries ($7) (ordered by the Mrs)
Along with the Pomme Dilla ($12) - I love this kicked up version of hash browns.
And the Fresh Island Ahi Tartare ($11) - I inadvertently gave the Mrs a toast point only with the avocado remoulade but no ahi. All three appetizers were great with the Rose Champagne.
I then uncorked a bottle of 2009 Maggy Hawk Afleet Anderson Valley Pinot Noir which was purchased from HASR Wine Co.
For the Chinatown Pork Chop ($26) which both girls enjoyed (actually Ms K wanted the Cassoulet but Terry explained that they only prep 10 servings for Saturdays since Tuesday is their next dinner service which means anything leftover from Saturday gets tossed out - all food gets tossed by day #3).
While I had the Crabby Salmon ($25). It was a great dish especially with the Maggy Hawk but since I was snackin' before the Mrs got home, my appetite was a little sated by the time we got there.
The girls still had room after the entrees so Ms K had the Chocolate Gelato ($6).
While the Mrs had the Affogato ($9) - a great finisher if you like coffee or espresso.
Another great meal at HASR Bistro! They did expand their back dining area to accommodate another 12 to 15 diners and also created a large function/banquet room upstairs. It's also great that you can BYO and we do purchase a fair amount of vino from their sister HASR Wine Co business. So you guessed it, we'll be back!
