Dinner @ The Pig and the Lady

Ever since I brought Mom to The Pig and the Lady for their special Mother's Day brunch buffet whereby Mom proclaimed P & L the best restaurant with the best fried chicken ever, Sis has wanted to also sample their food. So she and T (aka Maui Boy) flew over from Maui for the weekend partly to sample the food of the Le Clan. As usual with the wine group, we started with a round of cocktails including the Cobra Commander (avocado mezcal, pink grapefruit liqueur and Sriracha ice) for T.

The Cure (lilikoi bitters, Cocchi Americano and bubbles) for the Mrs

A Horchata with booze for Sis

And the Buckwild (rye, house ginger beer and Amaro) for moi

Mom simply had a glass of Scaia Bianco or an Italian Chardonnay and Garganega blend. We then moved on to the appetizers including a couple of Oysters with fish sauce and kaffir lime vinaigrette for T and myself.

Along with the Shiitake La Lot which was created for the Joy of Sake festival last Friday.

The Slow Roasted Heirloom Tomatoes topped with tofu and served with a toasted baguette with black garlic and lilikoi - sweet, sour, savory all in one. Our server even brought out an extra baguette to sop up the tomato juices...

The Laotian Fried Chicken - according to Mom, the BEST fried chicken EVER!

And for moi, the Vietnamese Headcheese Katsu. I tell you, Mama Le really knows how to make a killer headcheese that's great on its own... then you panko coat and fry... with black Sriracha sauce... died and gone to heaven!

We then moved on to our main courses including the Pho Tsukemen which you dip in the broth kinda like Sam Sato's dry noodles for Sis.

The Pig and the Lady Pho for both Mom and T.

The Charcoal Grilled Chicken for Sis-n-law (she only eats chicken but her last chicken dish is usually proclaimed as the best).

The Chitara pasta with boquerone tempura, roasted yellow tomatoes and purslane for the Mrs.

And Mama Le's Oxtail Pho for yours truly complete with slow cooked egg (though out of focus).

We finished the meal with a special dessert, Coffee Can Bread with coconut gelato and nectarines.

Once again, another superlative from the Le Clan and we will be back in another month to sample a couple of their Primal Dinners - probably the roasted pig head and the 12 hour slow cooked brisket...
