With May 21st rapidly approaching spelling the end of Hiroshi Eurasion Tapas and Vino Italian Tapas and Wine Bar as we know it, we made a final reservation last night at Hiroshi - the I's joined us for the final meal. The Mrs started with her usual Gin Fizz, this version was the Lilikoi Gin Fizz.
While I started with Hiroshi's Eurasion Martini.
Chef John Iha started was with a plate of seared moose sent to him by an Uncle living Stateside - tender and just like venison with just a hint of game.
And moose poke scented with truffle oil...
I then uncorked a 1989 Schloss Schonborn "Klaus" Riesling which despite being 25 years old, still have zippy acidity and the sugars were just beginning to enter that honeyed, caramelized sweetness. This baby can easily go another 10 years!
This was specifically uncorked for the LaBelle Farms Foie Gras Sushi...
Though was also sampled our usual Duo of Contemporary Sushi which includes the miso salmon and torched ahi.
Along with the special Potstickers... I forgot what it was filled with but the sauce was like a caramelized shoyu...
I then uncorked a bottle of 2013 Clos Sainte Magdelaine "Bel Arme" which had a very pretty perfumed nose and pleasing palate flow...
For the Okinawan Soba "Mazeman" - I love this newer addition to the Hiroshi menu - thick chewy noodles with grilled salmon and a clam-mushroom jus...
And the Steamed Shinsato Farms Pork Belly with roasted grape tomatoes and a pancetta ragout...
I then ordered a bottle of 2007 Scherrer "Big Brother" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
For the Vintage Natural Beef New York Steak,
The Crispy Skin Kampachi,
And my Red Wine Steamed Veal Cheeks.
We ended the evening with the Kona Coffee Bavarois
And the Strawberry Cake
Another great but bittersweet meal the doors will shut for good in another week and a half...
