Though we didn't originally plan on dining out (and simply planned on sweating at home), we re-visited HASR Bistro last weekend. It originally didn't sound very do-able since we knew that HASR Bistro previously had issues with their air conditioner but it was working when we arrived plus we were seated in the back room where it's a little cooler. We first visited HASR Wine Co to pick up several bottles for dinner including a 2012 Moone Tsai Charles Heintz Vineyard Chardonnay... loads of new oak in that Kongsgaard/Marcassin/Pahlmeyer style...
And a Marc Hebrart Brut Rose Champagne... loads of mineral and dried orange peel...
We started with several appetizers including the Eggplant Souffle which we never sampled before... actually it was quite tasty with sharp goat cheese with that slightly bitter hit from the eggplant on a rich tomato sauce...
The Shrimp Spring Rolls with garlic chili aioli...
Along with a bottle of 2011 Selbach-Oster Riesling Spatlese "Alte Reben"...
With the Mongolian Style Baby Back Ribs... you don't even need teeth to consume these tender morsels...
And my fave, the Pomme Dilla or gourmet hash browns...
Along with two orders of Pomme Frites...
I also uncorked one of my purchases from 750 Wines in Napa last year, a 2012 Antica Terra Botanica Pinot Noir... more Burgundian than New World made by Maggie Harrison previously assistant winemaker at Sine Qua Non for 7 years...
We then moved to main courses including two Braised Short Rib with bone marrow...
A Harris Ranch Ribeye...
And my Pan Seared Salmon on rice pilaf
The girls ordered a load of desserts...
While I just had Walter make me a gin based cocktail...
Then finished with his version of a Negroni...
Yes, I'm a lush. Guilty as charged! And Terry told us that new dishes will be added to the menu so we'll be back in short order...
