Well, K-Town's own Big City Diner finally opened at the Windward Mall (replacing I-Hop). So of course, Mom wanted to sample their Fried Noodles. Not because she's never tried them but because she said they made the best Fried Noodles... at the Kailua location. You see, after she said that they were the best Fried Noodles, my brother did a take-out from the original Kaimuki location... and Mom said it wasn't the same, in fact she said they were terrible. So she wanted to sample K-Town's Fried Noodles...
However since we were here on Veteran's Day, only the brunch menu was available which includes all of the usual breakfast items and most of the lunch items... except for one item... you guessed it, the Fried Noodles...
So Mom opted for a short stack with a side of corned beef hash.. She first quizzed our server "Is it freshly made"?... "Yes"...
When she received the plate, she said it didn't look freshly made... she thought it looked like canned corned beef but it did have larger chunks of corned beef usually not seen in the Libby's can...
The Mrs also selected a short stack along with a smaller Asian salad....
And a side of french fries... no t argument from me, though I did ask for a side of tartar sauce for the fries...
While I sampled the full portion of their new Upcountry Paniolo BBQ Chicken salad with corn, tomatoes and a BBQ slathered grilled chicken breast... Of course since it was a holiday, I ordered a Samuel Adams on tap but alas... their liquor license won't be active until next Monday so I simply had a cuppa Joe. I totally see Big City Diner making it in K-Town because they serve local style grinds, have a full bar and multiple large screens throughout the restaurant (Side Street Inn would also make it in K-Town for the same reasons)...
