Lunch @ Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant

Once again, lunch plans were made while we were at Vino so I wasn't really paying attention but the Mrs did remind me the day before that we had had a lunch reservation with Ms K at Jade Dynasty. The only problem with Jade Dynasty is that they don't take reservations for dim sum... at least on weekends... for non-regulars... so we did have to wait about 15 minutes before being seated...

I intended on ordering a glass of Acacia Pinot Noir since Pinot pairs with most foods including many different types of seafood but alas, they were out. So I selected my 2nd choice, a Riesling from China Yu Suen(?)... it did have a touch of sweetness that naturally pairs with Chinese cuisine but it did kinda taste like Mom's box wine...

So this is how the food was tabled...

Snow Mountain Char Siu Buns... as light and airy as bao gets...

Mochi Rice with Dried Scallop and Chicken... one of my perpetual faves with sticky, glutinous rice encasing salty, savory scallops and tender chicken... I purchase these from Marukai whenever they're 15% off...

Deep Fried Taro Puffs... something magical happens to taro when it hits hot oil to form that airy crisp outer layer...

Tripe with Curry Sauce... I always intended on sampling these but usually held off if it was just the Mrs dining with me but Ms K does partake in offal and these were succulent and tender with just a touch of that offal quality...

Seafood Seaweed Rolls... the umami from the konbu kicks up the flaky fish within...

Jellyfish with Pork Shank... just a hint of spice to the jellyfish which had the consistency of konnyaku with flavorful sliced pork shank meat which was like a coarse head cheese... one of my faves for the afternoon!

Stir Fried Vermicelli Noodle Chiu Chow Style... another great noodle dish to fill the belly between dim sum bites. Almost like Singapore style noodles with perfect seasoning...

Steamed Bean Curd Rolls... another of our perpetual faves with bean curd that sops up all of the flavors of the "gravy"...

Steamed Pork Dumplings or pork hash... a classic "manapua" house favorite...

BBQ Pork Look Fun Roll... I love these even at Marukai... pour some memmi with a nice Riesling or sake...

So another great meal at Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant... now only if they took reservations... or reservations for us at least...
