Easter Brunch @ Michel's

Yes, we were a little lost when Michel's stopped their monthly Sunday brunches... great food, good wines and terrific table mates to pass a lazy Sunday morning and early afternoon... so when Michel's restarted their Sunday brunch this past Easter, we "HAD" to reserve a table. And since it's a Sunday brunch, you "have" to start with some bubbly...

So I uncork my magnum of 1995 Drappier Carte D'Or directly from the chateau no less... and though it was pushin' 21 years, it was still very fresh with at least another 5 to 10 years before it even peaked...

We were started with a fruit salad with a pineapple and cilantro gazpacho... very refreshing and a great starter...

The appetizers included the Clam Chowder...

House Cured Smoked Salmon with Potato Cakes...

And the Warm Seafood Salad... ok, the Mrs snapped this photo without pre-focusing it...

the Chicken Satay...

And the Oysters on the Half Shell...

We also uncorked a nice selection of wines for our meal including a 2009 Aubert UV Vineyard Pinot Noir...

A 2014 Domaine La Roque Cite de Carcassonne Cabernet Franc...

And a 2010 Tyler Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir...

For the Eggs Benedict...

The Mahi Mahi and Salmon in Pastry Crust with Scallop Mousse...

The Prime Rib...

And the Roasted Lamb...

For dessert, we sampled the Creme Puffs...

The Chocolate Mousse...

And the Kiddie's Ice Cream

Our server even indulged us with a couple of orders of Bananas Foster which isn't on the brunch menu but appreciated none-the-less...

Once again, another great brunch at Michel's at the Colony Surf. If you don't have your reservations for Mother's Day, I highly suggest reserving that table NOW!
