Table 13 @ Kakaako Kitchen

Earlier this month, Monsieur K secured a table at Kakaako Kitchen for their Table 13 dinner. What's Table 13? Well, you can reserve a table for 13 diners whereby Chef Russell Siu prepares a sit down multi-course meal but only charges you for 12 dinners with the 13th being on the house. Kinda like a baker's dozen. The only catch... You'll be charged for 12 seatings even if only 6 people show up and because Chef Siu's main restaurant - 3660 on the Rise - is open daily except Mondays, the dinners can only be reserved for Monday evenings.

So as usual, we start with some bubbly (Kakaako Kitchen provides one stemless wine glass to use but our group usually carts our own wine glasses)...

Then M uncorks her "piece de resistance", a 2005 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet "Les Pucelles"...

The evening's menu looked like this:

Bruschetta with Vine Ripened Cherry Tomato & Mozzarella Cheese, Toasted Baguette

Fettuccine with Bacon and Mushrooms with a Cheesy Cream Sauce

Chopped Romaine with Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Walnuts & Mandarin Oranges,
Basil Bleu Cheese Dressing

Mashed Potatoes

Fresh Buttered Corn Kernels lightly scented with Rosemary

Roasted Sirloin of Beef, Caramelized Sherry Sauce

Baked Mahi with an Avocado Scallion Panko Crust, Lemon Ginger Sauce

Yuzu Panna Cotta, Fresh Strawberries

Of course, as the courses were tabled, we uncorked more wines (it's BYOB)... Here's a smattering of what we sampled...

Of course, since M was visiting from the Big Island, when E saw my 1995 Roda II Rioja, he stated no magnums at the table to which I replied... "it's not a magnum, I'm just happy to see M"...

So if you're in the mood for a quiet dinner with 12 other friends or family, contact Kakaako Kitchen for their Table 13... yes, it's on a Monday but sometimes these Monday dinners recharge you for the rest of the week...
