Cocktails & Lunch @ Ala Moana

The Mrs wanted to pick up a couple of items at Ala Moana so I played the role of taxi driver. Because of the ongoing construction at Ala Moana (I swear that Kakaako will sink once all of the development is completed... or at the very least, with the first major rainstorm, tenants on the lower floors will experience sewage back-up), we now park on the Ewa end outside of Bloomingdales. because the new Foodland Farms is situated there and I never visited any of the Foodland Farms, I told the Mrs that I would meet back with her at Foodland Farms...

Well, not exactly Foodland Farms but at the Wine Bar at R. Fields inside of Foodland Farms...

I started with a glass of NV Carpi e Sorbara Lambrusco ($7.00). It was previously opened so it lost most of its fizz but was still good with the Marcona, olives and charcuterie...

Along with the Charcuterie Board ($10.99). Local lavosh, several olives, caperberries and proscuitto, mortadella and fennel salame...

I also sampled a glass of the 2014 Piancornello Ross di Montalcino ($10.50)...

Then the Mrs showed up so she sampled the Cheese Board ($10.99)...

Along with 2 ounce pours of the 2013 Le Monde Fruilano ($3.00), 2014 Sea Pearl Sauvignon Blanc ($3.00) and 2014 En Route by Far Niente Chardonnay ($4.50)...

We then exited though not before picking some Christmas gifts at Sugarfina also within Foodland Farms...

The Mrs did want more than charcuterie so we made our way to Nordstrom and their restaurant, Ruscello...

Cocktails were in order so the Mrs selected the Hendricks Hula ($14.00) with Hendricks gin, St Germain, pineapple and lemon juices, simple syrup and mint... It was a very refreshing cocktail...

While I sampled the T and O Martinez ($13.00) with barrel aged Plymouth gin, Brovo jammy sweet vermouth, Luxardo liqueur and orange bitters... Me LIKEY very much!

We then shared a special, the Zucchini Carpaccio with very thin slices of zucchini, ricota salata and arugula in a lemony vinaigrette with lemon zest... The BOMB.COM salad!

She then chose the Nicoise Salad with Ahi Tuna ($17.50)...

While I sampled the Chicken Club with Maple Glazed Bacon ($12.50)...

The house made crosscut chips were KILLER! I also sampled a glass of the 2014 Canon 13 Pinot Noir from Santa Lucia Highlands ($12.00)... We also found out that Chef Ala (originally from Le Guignol) is the now the chef at Ruscello... maybe that's why the food was so good... And I now have the perfect waiting area at Ala Moana whenever the Mrs wants me to be her taxi driver...
