We did a date night dinner at Vino - we usually request a four top table and once we're there, text various members of the wine gang. All were bust that night so it did end up a real date night.
The Mrs started with her usual Aperol Spritz... and I had my usual glass of Maui Wine Lokelani Rose (hey, support local and it is a tasty sparkler)...
With the amuse bouche frittata...
We then moved on to several specials of the evening including the Duck Confit with crimini mushrooms, Swiss chard and red wine demi...
And the Wild Mushroom Pizza with crimini and Alii mushrooms, San Marzano tomatoes and truffle oil...
With my trio of white tasters including the 2015 Quenard “Abymes”(Jacquere), the 2017 Salina Virgona (Inzolia-Cataratto-Malvasia) and the 2017 Ciavolich “Colline Pescarese” (Pecorino)...
For my Shrimp Scampi with fennel, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and white-wine butter clam jus and jumbo shrimp...
While the Mrs chose the Bolognese with fennel pork sausage, roasted red peppers and San Maazano tomatoes...
With a full glass of the 2016 Pinot Noir, CF Wines “Santa Maria Valley”...
While I sampled a red trio with Lambrusco di Sorbara, Barbolini, the 2016 La Pergola “Il Goccetto” (Brachetto) and the (Cabernet-Petite Verdot-Merlot), Los Padres ”Margarita Ranch”...
We ended the evening with the special Strawberry Tiramisu...
And we also brought a dessert wine, an Alvera Solera 1927 Pedro Ximenex...
For a pair of chocolates, a Guittard Vanilla dark chocolate and the Valrhona Guanaja...
The chocolate brought the fruit out in the Pedro Ximenez...
And of course, we'll be back...
