Dinner @ Zia's Caffe

Right after work, we decided have dinner at Zia's Caffe in K-Town. Actually, there used to be the original Zia's Caffe in Kailua but that location closed several years ago and I still am surprised K-Town has supported Zia's for over 10 years. Being raised here, K-Town usually only patronizes good breakfast joints, Chinese and take-out as many K-Town residents do a lot of cooking at home.

Because we arrived a little before 6pm, Happy Hour was still in effect so we got our drink orders in including a Stella Artois for the Mrs and a glass of Pinto Grigio for me...

Along with a couple of the Happy Hour menu items, the French Fries ($4)... I don't think these were of the frozen variety and they were very crisp...

And the Proscuitto Wrapped Melon with Honey Balsamic Glaze ($7)... A very hearty salad with salami, garbanzo beans, tomatoes, olives, apples, peperonata mixed with Romaine and topped with a chunk of gorgonzola...

The bread plate with olive spread...

We also had the Mrs' favorite salad, Zia's Chopped Salad ($18) - we boxed about half of it to take home...

Then the Mrs sampled the Spicy Arrabiata full portion with Sausage on penne ($14.50)... the Mrs boxed about half of her entrée...

While I sampled the Chicken Pomodoro with San Marzano tomato sauce, roasted red peppers and spinach on linguini ($18)... I also boxed about half to take home...

So yes, we'll be back. The Mrs also purchased a gift card for Mom since she loves Zia's and it's a 4 minute drive from her house...
