We were fortunate to be on stay-cation when Pink Martini played at the Blue Note last week. You see, we suffer from that chronic condition called old man/old woman-it is where you refuse to attend any social function if you have to work the next day.
As usual, we started with cocktails, a Portofino Cooler for the Mrs...
And an Elderflower Fizz for me...
Along with a plate of crinkle cut frites... yes, I know these are probably the frozen bagged variety but they fit the bill...
We then moved on to dinner including the Mrs' 14oz Harris Ranch Prime Rib with all the fixins'...
Including mashed potatoes, veggies, au jus and horseradish...
The Blue Note isn't known for being a bargain but this Prime Rib was perfect medium rare and along with the accoutrements, a fair price for $38...
I sampled the Unagi Glazed Salmon on Napa cabbage slaw with rice ($35)...
Along with a bottle of 2012 Ruffino Ducale Oro Riserva chianti Classico ($95) which is probably the best deal on the wine menu as it's "only" about 1.8X the cost at wine.com (most of the other wine selections are 2X to 5X the wine.com cost)...
And as usual, Thomas Lauderdale, China Forbes and company put on a great show including a chain dance with their encore of "Brasil"...
So yes, we'll be back the next time they're in town...
