Day 5 started with our first breakfast at the Blackbird Inn - Ms S originally booked the stay assuming that the Blackbird Inn was part of the Four Sisters Inns but we found out upon checkout that the Inn was sold and the new owner remained independent of the Four Sisters Inns. I simply noticed COVID precautions a little tighter than the Healdsburg Inn which served breakfast buffet style whereas the Black Inn plated then wrapped breakfast and condiments were pre-packaged. Our first breakfast here was a large egg, cheese and ham sandwich which was a messy but delicious and filling meal...
Our first scheduled tasting was at Mia Carta - Mia Carta itself isn't a winery but they represent eight independent wineries and let you pick and chose which wines you want to sample...
I selected a 2018 Essere Franco Combsville Chardonnay, a 2021 Earthshine Santa Rita Pinot Noir, a 2019 RARECAT Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and the 2019 Earthshine Super Tuscan. The wines were good though at this point, had about 18 bottles being sent home...
Ms S just sampled the 2021 Sciandri Rose of Syrah from Coombsville, the 2018 Redmon Merlot and the 2019 Majuscule Red Blend. We then mosied over to Be Bubbly which again isn't a winery but actually a Champagne Bar.
They have these cool tabletops with Champagne caps and bubbles mimicing an opened Champagne bottle...
Also a nice by-the-glass Champagne list...
Along with the JL Vergnon Murmure Brut Nature 1er Cru, Schramsberg Blanc de Noir, Lombard Extra Brut 1er Cru and Tassin Brut Loches Sur Ource...
We also sampled the Tater Tots with Truffle salt and Parmesan...
And the Triple Creme cheese plate with dried fruits, nuts and crackers...
After a nap and rest back at the Blackbird Inn, we headed back for dinner at Oenotri. We've been here on two previous occasions and had great meals on both occasions. However, likely due to COVID, instead of the nineteen selections of house cured charcuterie they used to prepare, they now only offer 6 selections... but all 6 were top notch charcuterie...
With a Negroni Blanc...
And Ms S's Bees Knees...
Ms S also decided she needed some fiber so she ordered the Brussel Sprout Salad with pear and pancetta...
I then moved on to my Petrale Sole with Gigantes Beans and Kale Pesto... I love those creamy, tender gigantes...
While Ms S selected the Pork Ragu on Radiatore pasta...
Ms S still had room for dessert so she sampled the Chocolate Olive Oil Cake... we both agreed that it strangely tasted like a Hostess Ding Dong...
While I ended my meal with my usual Negroni...
Tomorrow brings several more wine tastings starting at 11:00am...
