Vacation 2022, Day #6

Day 6 started with breakfast - today it was waffles, a slightly runny egg (I think it was supposed to be poached) and persimmon slices...
When then headed to Gamling and McDuck which specializes in those Loire Valley varietals Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc...
It's an eclectic tasting room to say the least being part sports bar with a large TV screen at the end of the room and a huge "painting" of Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon at the Island of La Grande Jatte"... then you notice that their mascot kitty is in the painting and one of the subjects is holding a bottle of their wine...
We opted for the full 8 sample tasting including a sparkling Cabernet Franc which was a first for me, a multi-vintage Cabernet Franc and their "tete" 2015 Stagecoach Cabernet Franc just off Pritchard Hill where Cabs there run > $200...
We purchased a 6-pack to ship to the 50th then headed to Oxbow Market to attempt to grab lunch atthe Hog Island Oyster Co - luckily, we were seated immediately so I ordered a glass of bubbly - a Gerard Betrand Rose and a plate of frites...
Plus a dozen mixed oysters...
While Ms Sampled the Manhattan Clam Chowder - she said it did have a spicy kick!
Then after lunch, we decided to visit ArBARetum, the Napa Distillery's new bar right on 1st street...
They have a nice cocktail list with several liquors produced by the Napa Distillery...
I started with the Satin Jacket, a gin based libation with Cocchi Americano, Luxardo Maraschino and an absinthe rinse...
While Ms S sampled the L.A. Confidential, one of their gin & tonic variations...
After discussing cocktail creation with our mixologist, decided to finally try one of the high end Japanese whisky, the Yamazaki 12yr... not enough ooooo's in smooooth to describe it...
Ms S had room for a 2nd libation so she sampled the San Remo with gin and Cointreau with fruit extracts and sparkling elderflower... I helped finish her libation...
While I finished with The Perfect Flaw, another gin based libation with Luxardo Bitter Bianco and dry vermouth...
We did have reservations for dinner at Grace's Table but I guess we made too merry with cocktails as Ms S didn't want to walk back to Napa Town (about 5 blocks) so we cancelled... Tomorrow is our last full day in Napa.
