Brunch @ Podmore

To celebrate Ms S's formal entry into AARP, we had Sunday brunch at Podmore, the sister restaurant of Senia. This was our third visit to Podmore, the first being an evening visit for cocktails right before I entered AARP with our second visit for Ms S's birthday brunch last year. Ms S wanted a re-visit since she noticed their current menu listed a Smoked Souffle Pancake... We first started with a round of cocktails, a Fizzical Therapy for Ms S with Kid junmai sake, yuzu and champagne syrup (she really enjoyed this libation)...
And a Live Free or Chai for me with Knob Creek rye, Real McCoy 5 rum, ginger, assam tea and chai syrup which was like a spicy Old Fashioned...
We then started with the White Chocolate Blueberry Rock Cake with Yuzu Glaze (a mini scone) which paired perfectly with Ms S's cocktail...
Then Ms S enjoyed her Confit Duck Sandwich with perfectly cooked cottage fries...
While I had the Fried Chicken and Biscuit with a flaky biscuit topped with strips of perfectly fried chicken topped with cream gravy and a sunny side egg...
We then moved on to dessert starting with a small portion of the Deja Brew with Martell cognac, St George NOLA coffee, Averna, cold brew and cream...
The Sticky Toffee Pudding - luscious toffee flavor in a salted caramel sauce...
And finally Ms S's Smoked Souffle Pancake - a little more savory than sweet though it had berries, it also had a smoked maple syrup and salted butter...

Another great meal and experience at Podmore. I'll admit that the Rock Cakes, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Deja Brew were compted by a dear friend who was working that morning but we would have paid full price none-the-less. And once we received the bill, I gave Chef Rush a year old copy of an article I wrote for the Hawaii Herald about 1 year ago highlighting our first two visits. Yes, Chef Rush actually works in the kitchen on a Sunday morning when most chef/owners would take the day off. So we'll be back again...
