Celebrating the Lunar New Year @ O's House

We welcomed the entry of the Wood Dragon at O's house in Hawaii Kai. She's moved quite a bit starting Kailua then moving to the slopes of Kula then moving back to Oahu in Palolo, buying a home in Ahuimanu and finally selling her Ahuimanu home to move into a rental in Hawaii Kai. And since this was the Lunar New Year celebration, the dishes were primarily Chinese. I brought Pork Tenderloin Char Siu using the Noh's Char Siu mix...
As well as a Shiitake with Black Bean Sauce on Chow Fun...
Because my Nichi Bei News column is due at the end of the month - made a low fat oatcake. Since I used both beet powder and blitzed dried cranberries to attain a red hue (since February is American Heart Month), figured the red oatcakes also fit in with the Lunar New Year theme...
Other guests brought Spicy Tako on Tofu...
Cold Ginger Chicken...
Crispy Gau Gee on Cake Noodle...
While the hostess made both a Chinese Style Oxtail Soup...
As well as two different Steamed Bao - one with Szechuan Eggplant and another with Kabocha and Lup Cheong...
My cocktail for the evening was a SF Gold Rusher (since the Superbowl was the next day)...
O's next themed party will likely be St Patty's Day since that falls on a Saturday...
