Seems like a lifetime ago when I was employed by Times Supermarket - way back then, the Teruya family still owned and ran Times. Since then, Quinn Supers purchased Times from the Teruya family in 2002 and also took over the Big Save, Star Markets and Fujioka's Wine Merchant after purchasing Times. Then in 2017, the Don Quijote Group in Japan purchased the Times Supermarkets, Big Save, Shima Market and Fujioka Wine Times from Quinn Supers - they previously also purchased all US based Daiei and Marukai operations. So Times Supermarket now has a miniature Japanese section almost like a mini Marukai within Times. Over the past several trips to Times, I found these frozen kimbap that you simply reheat in the microwave...
After reheating, the nori shrinks a little but the taste is almost like the fresh variety you can find at Palama market...
I also found these frozen Korean style BBQ Bao made by Omni Foods so the protein is totally plant based... they were pretty good with pillowy buns though a little spicy...
A cross section... I also purchased Omni's plant based "Spam" that I plan on making vegan Spam musubi at some point...
Times also had these mini mochi... I got the Maple Pancake for Ms S which had a pronounced maple syrup flavor...
And the Tiramisu Creme for me which had a very pronounced mocha flavor...
The Hawaii retail group for Don Quijote - Pan Pacific Retail Management - also just had a grand opening of the first Tokyo Central market (first one in Hawaii) in Kailua in the former Times Kailua spot but we'll wait for the crowds to die down since the grand opening was just yesterday...
